Dear Brothers & Sisters, Friends, and Observers:

I'm back at my post representing clients and trying to set forth a little time to thank the many Vermonters who assisted and participated in the campaign and I hope to have composed and sent those thank you missives by Thanksgiving. I am grateful to each and every person and have in mind the relatives, the children, the veterans, the elders, the politicians, the businesspeople, the unemployed, the poor, the angry, the depressed, and the sick and the lonely who all played a part in my four-month odyssey; and I will try to remember each of you with a special message. In the meantime, I want to express my thanks for the advice and encouragement along the way. In my mind's eye, I see so many of you: the elder Lebanese lady in Lyndonville, the little child in Burlington, the sick middle-aged women in Manchester, the high school student in Rutland, the college student in Colchester, the angry man in St. Albans, the veteran in Island Pond, the young mother in Barre, the selectperson in Bellows Falls, the priest in Brattleboro, the disabled woman in Bennington and so many more.

We had a dream at the beginning - take care of each other; and a commitment: "The future belongs to those who believe in the future of their dreams".

This dream and this commitment colored every step I took, informed every speech, and highlighted every communication. It was the twinkle in your eye, the smile on your lips, the hope in your heart that made this journey so easy and each day so exhilarating and satisfying.

I am grateful for this opportunity to have served you and am grateful for each of you in making this possible.

I believe that the mark we have made has meaning and permanence and that this journey is the beginning for us to a place where the dream will be fulfilled for Vermont.

I look forward to the journey ahead with you.

Yours truly,

sig
